Speculaas I had to give you a recipe for biscuits my mum makes. They are a Dutch recipe. She makes them every year. Ingredients: 200 grammes self raising flour ( this has baking powder in it already) 75 gr margarine 100 gr ( 1 cup ) brown sugar 2 teasps - 1 tablespoon allspice a pinch of salt 1 tablespoon. milk about 100 grammes almonds or peanuts, shredded / ground but not into fine powder. Method: 1) Mix flour with margarine, brown sugar, salt, and allspice until smooth 2) Rest dough for about 10 mins. 3) Roll out dough on a floured surface ( to about 1/4 inch thickness ) 4) Sprinkle almond or peanut chips over dough and press them lightly into the dough with the palm of your hand 5) Cut shapes out of dough and place on prepared cookie sheet ( or if you have traditional wooden speculaas moulds, press dough into the moulds, then turn over and beat back of wooden moulds until dough drops onto prepared cookie sheet) 6) Bake in 300 degr. F oven for about 20 - 25 mins.
